Enlisted Mt Forest 1-2-16 (age 27 years), lists 1 year service in 30th Wellington Regiment. On 153rd Battalion Nominal Roll 12-2-16, no transfer noted. On 153rd Nominal Rolls as published Guelph Mercury 10-6-16 and 1-12-16. Embarked with 153rd Halifax N.S. SS Olympic 29-4-17. Arrived Liverpool 7-5-17. Assigned 25th Reserve for Training and Administration. Taken on Strength 47th Battalion in the field 28-3-18. KIA 27-7-18. Cemetery: Anzin-St Aubin British Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais, France. "Circumstances of Death' Register per Library & Archives Canada: "Killed in Action" He was a member of no.2 Lewis Gun section of No.6 platoon on the night of 22/23rd July 1918, advanced 100 yards in advance of Plumer Trench, west of Arleux-en-Gohelle, to act as a covering party for a patrol, which had come in contact with an enemy patrol. When returning from this advance position he was hit by a shell and severely wounded in several places, and although sent out on a stretcher very shortly afterwards, he died before reaching the Regimental Aid Post.
