Enlisted Guelph 20-3-16 (age 22 years 11 months). Enlistment noted 6-4-16 edition Mt Forest Representative. On 153rd Battalion Nominal Roll 25-3-16, no transfer noted. On 153rd Nominal Rolls as published Guelph Mercury 10-6-16 and 1-12-16. Embarked with 153rd Halifax N.S. SS Olympic 29-4-17. Arrived Liverpool 7-5-17. Assigned 25th Reserve for Training and Administration. Taken on Strength 17th CMGC 29-5-18. Taken on Strength 2nd CMGC 22-8-18. Cushnie letter dated 27-10-17: "Yesterday afternoon we also went to the Machine Gun Depot which is stationed here (Seaford)...Rachar and Sedore are about the only Mt Forest boys in it....Alex Keir is also there along with most of the boys who used to belong to the machine gun section of the 153rd."
Cushnie letter 17-11-17: "Ernest Rachar expects to got to France in a draft from the Machine Depot sometime this week." Hospitalized 28-9-18, ulcerated foot. Discharged 6-12-18.
